Sunday Fun

This Sunday was a day full of fun! We took Connor to his 1st Polo match and caught up with some old friends.

During the divot stomp they served complementary champagne and sparking apple juice. It took a few sips but Connor quickly developed a taste for the bubbly goodness in a fancy glass.

After Polo we joined some other friends for dinner by the beach.

The San Diego Zoo & Lego Land

We spent Friday afternoon at the San Diego Zoo. It was wonderful, so many exotic animals that we'd never seen before. (warning LOTS of animal photos)


One of Connor's favorite animals is the cheetah. It was pretty incredible to see this beautiful and agile animal up close in person.

Rino's are the closest thing I've seen to a dinosaur.

There are free roaming peacocks which is pretty cool until this one decided to chase Connor. He was terrified! But it was kinda funny.



The mama and baby koala were beyond cute.

We took the safari sky ride, beautiful views but VERY high...phew.

None of us have ever seen a panda before. It truly was a special experience.

I don't know if you can tell from this picture but Chris and Connor are in matching outfits. That is because after dad got dressed Connor picked out his clothes to be like dad. :)

While mommy spent the day getting pampered at the spa, Daddy took Connor to Lego Land. Connor went on his 1st roller coaster and he loved it! When the ride finished Connor said "I'm dizzy, I like it". Ha Ha

Summer vacation in San Diego, CA

We tracked down the sun for some summer fun. While Santa Barbara is notoriously gloomy and cold in June we escaped to mostly sunny San Diego. We stayed at La Costa Resort and Spa which was the prefect mix of luxury spa experience and family friendly resort. There are lots of pools to appeal to all sorts of people... shallow kiddie pools, slightly deeper pools for the older ones, splash landing with 2 big waterslides, a small waterslide for the littles, and 2 quiet adults only pools, the spa pool and several scattered smaller pools around the property. Connor was in heaven at the kiddie pool where he could touch bottom the entire length of the pool but it was still deep enough to dive for his rockets and swim.

Connor and I loved having pina coladas by the pool.

Best buddies. Dad taught Connor how to play Marco Polo... these really are the good ole days.

A good start to summer

Connor is making great strides with his swimming! He can now swim unassisted from the side of the pool to the white lane line.

Dad started the summer off with his 1st surf session of the season at Mesa Lane.

Camping and Fishing Trip

Connor went on his first camping trip with me and 2 college friends. Its hard to believe I've known Bo and Phil for 20 years next year. It was good to catch up with good friends, fish, eat, and roast marshmallows. We fished all day and it was a little surreal being with Connor as the last time I fished I was just a kid myself. So we loaded up the old suburban with fishing and camping gear and lots of balls to play with on our down time.



Phil had the best luck fishing. He almost broke his pole with the sea monsters he had on his line. Bo was strategic as we all tried to figure out a way to catch these illusive fish.

Connor played while we fished and threw rocks in the lake. The guys were extremely patient as that clearly wasn't helping our cause.






While we cooked dinner and sat by the fire Connor looked for dinosaur bones (rocks) with Bo and put them in a museum.

A Boodle

"A boodle is a special note. Sometimes you get one, sometimes you don't."

At Connor's preschool once a week the teacher or Pastor hands out special notes to a few of the students during chapel or group time. Connor has gotten many before. But when I read this one to him in the car, he was very proud that his teacher said he was smart.
