Connor's 1st Movie

Well that should say 1st movie theater experience because we all know he has watched the movie Cars at least one million times. But this was our 1st time to the movies and it was great. We watched the new Disney movies Oceans and Connor did great! The movie as you can guess was about the ocean so there was nothing scary or violent. The footage of the humpback whales alone is reason to go. Its just amazing. Connor was so excited to be going to the movies. He talked about it all day.

Connor and dad played video games before we went in to the movie. It's so nice that Connor doesn't need money to play and he thinks he wins every time :)

To prepare for the movie Connor and I spent the morning at the sea center. We brushed up on our sea creature knowledge so we'd be fresh for the movie. We spent about 1/2 hour at the touch tank holding sea stars, hermit crabs and sea cucumbers. Connor was the only one there and got lots of attention. The girl working there was very impressed that Connor was using words like camouflage and predator talking about the crabs.

He helped to pull up the crab basket but it was empty :(

Then he gave me a great puppet show.

Dinasours and More

This weekend we took Connor and Samantha down to LA to the Natural History Museum to see some dinos. Connor is a HUGE dinosaur fan and he and mommy are becoming pseudo dinosaur experts. We thought it would be more fun for Connor to have a little buddy along for the ride down so Sammy came along. Connor and Sam were both angels on the ride down, just quietly watching movies. At the museum both kids liked seeing all the animals and the dinosaur skeletons. However when it came to the "dinosaur encounter" show Sam was terrified and Chris had to take her out of the room. Connor was frightened as well but I explained that it was really a person in a costume and he seemed to be okay. I personally thought it was great!

Did some good running around on the playground outside museum before getting back in the car for the long ride home. Which was hilarious Connor and Sam laughed, sang and screamed most of the way home (the fun kind of screaming not the bad kind). There is nothing better than the sound of laughter. It is so much fun to have two kids that are just two little buddies.

Connor was so happy to have Sam spend the night. I was surprised how fast they fell asleep because they were totally crazy for story time.

Breakfast at the new breakfast bar.

Easter Weekend

As a family we are not religious so the Easter we celebrate is the commercial version. We love the egg hunts, candy, brunches, friends, Easter bunny and spending time as a family. This was our 2nd year attending the egg hunt at Cathedral Oaks and it was even better than last year. This year Connor really understood what was going on and was really excited to see his friends and get treats.

Sammy, TJ and Connor.

Sam had her own strategy to the bag toss. She did her own version "place bag in hole get candy". Rules schmules anything for candy.

Connor was very focused on collecting eggs, but what slowed him down was opening and eating each one as he gathered his collection.

Pretty ladies.

Little Leila's 1st egg hunt and she slept through the whole thing.

Phil, Tim, Maggie getting a little easter bunny love.

Love.

Connor getting a dinosaur painted on his hand.

After the egg hunt we stayed and had brunch while the kids commandeered a tennis court next to the cafe area. It was so nice to have a relaxing brunch while the kids ran off some sugar.

These guys ran back and forth screaming and laughing for just over an hour then it was time to head home for a nap.

Easter Sunday we had a relaxing brunch at home with chocolate drizzled country bread french toast with strawberries and cream, bacon and eggs. Ymmmmm.

Then we made our way to the harbor and went whaling watching on the Condor Express.
We saw a Grey Whale, 2 Humpback whales and a pod of at least 100 dolphins as well as many sea lions. We didn't get the best pix but the link at the bottom has some more from our trip.
Connor loved being on the boat and kept telling me "I had so much fun on the boat with you mommy".
